Q: Shouldn’t God protect us from all harm if He loves us and we love Him?

My answer:
He should and He does. Though He primarily protects us from harm to our spiritual eternity and wellbeing.

In our physical existence, while it would be nice not to feel pain, or go hungry, the physical world is just our temporary home in which we are visiting for a specific purpose. This world is like a blink of an eye; in a blink of an eye you are gone from this world. Meaning: in the time it takes for a person to blink, is how long your life in this world is compared to the eternal life one is rewarded.

With that in mind, Hashem (God) still protects His cherished ones, and those who call on Him in truth, from all harm.

Even the supposed bad things that happen to us, are really for the good—the obvious good!

Hashem knows what’s best for our soul correction (what about us we need to correct in our lifetime) and everything that happens is for our ultimate best, even if we ourselves can’t see it.
